Health & Safety Advisor Job in Northampton | £50,000 - £60,000 + Car

Search² has been exclusively retained to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor for an established UK construction business.

The position offers a salary of £50,000 - £60,000 plus company car or car allowance and additional benefits, with the successful candidate ideally based around Northampton or the surrounding area.

This is a regional Health & Safety role supporting multiple construction projects and would suit someone who enjoys being out on site, building relationships with operational teams and providing practical Health & Safety support.

Importantly, our client is open-minded when it comes to experience.

They aren't necessarily looking for someone who has spent 10 or 15 years working in Health & Safety. For someone with a good grounding in construction safety, the right attitude and the ability to work independently, there is an experienced team around them to support their continued development.

What does the Health & Safety Advisor role involve?

The Health & Safety Advisor will work across a portfolio of construction projects, supporting site and project teams with the day-to-day management of Health & Safety.

Rather than being permanently based on one project, this is a multi-site regional position. You'll manage your own diary, regularly visit projects and develop relationships with the operational teams responsible for delivering them.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out Health & Safety inspections, audits and site visits

  • Providing practical advice to site and project teams

  • Supporting risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work

  • Reviewing Health & Safety performance and identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations

  • Advising teams on relevant Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice

  • Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and other operational stakeholders

  • Supporting the continued development of a positive Health & Safety culture

The successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable working independently while also becoming part of a wider Health & Safety team.

Who are we looking for?

We're particularly interested in speaking with Health & Safety professionals who already have some experience within the construction industry.

You could already be working as a Health & Safety Advisor and looking for a new challenge.

Alternatively, you may be earlier in your Health & Safety career and looking for an employer that can give you greater responsibility, exposure to different projects and the opportunity to continue developing.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous Health & Safety experience within construction

  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH

  • A good understanding of construction site activities and associated risks

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The confidence to work independently across multiple sites

  • A practical and approachable attitude towards Health & Safety

  • A full UK driving licence

Experience working within a main contractor or regional construction environment would be beneficial, but candidates from other relevant construction backgrounds will also be considered.

Why consider this Health & Safety opportunity?

One of the most attractive aspects of this opportunity is the balance between autonomy and development.

You'll have responsibility for managing your own workload and supporting projects across the region, while having access to experienced Health & Safety professionals around you.

The business can also offer a strong pipeline of work and exposure to a varied portfolio of construction projects.

The package includes:

  • £50,000 - £60,000 salary

  • Company car or car allowance

  • 6% employer pension contribution

  • Healthcare benefits

  • EV salary sacrifice scheme

  • Option to purchase additional annual leave

  • Continued professional development

  • Long-term career progression opportunities
